New site.

Hey! For all those who still check this blog for updates and have been wondering about the strange lack of such things, here is an update. I have moved the blog to its own domain. As a result of this, I have not been able to preserve the comments that a lot of u left on this blog (something that I cherished and am not happy about [damn import function]).

Please update your links to http://www.insanitywetrust.net/blog/ The site is not completely done yet, but will be soon. Till then, I will hopefully be posting more regularly on the new blog and will also try and keep this one updated as a back up blog.

See you around the corner.

Install Microsoft fonts in Linux.

I know. The first reaction is probably - Hwhy?? Well, a lot of sites seem to have been designed with Windoze!! in mind so .. a lot of them look better with the microsoft fonts ... sounds logical right? cool!

I am running Ubuntu Dapper on my system here, so use the app manager that your flavour comes with :) So here is how to do this ...

Just in case of a snafu, back up your /etc/fonts/ folder
Run the following command sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts.
Download the following: http://localhostr.com/files/f1f6f300383aa38e236c.tbz
Extract all the files into the "/etc/fonts" folder - don't know how to do this? - Here you go:
sudo tar xvjpf fontconfig.tbz -C /etc/fonts/

and you are done!!

Hope this was atleast a little helpful. Let me know if there is anything else that u might want to know...

New Beginnings.

Today I make a fresh start. Today I know who I should really care for, today I leave behind the baggage of a long time past and move forward with the assurance that I do not need to care about some of the people that I used to.

I have been set straight and I have been reassured. I know that what I believed in from the start was right and I had just wandered from the truth for a long time.

Today, I make a new beginning, new friends, new enemies, new truths and new destinies.

Today, I become me again!

Death cab for Cuties - Soul meets Mind

This is not the kind of song that I usually listen to, but maybe its just the mood I am in or something clicked ... So anyway, here go the lyrics:

Soul Meets Mind - Death cab for Cuties

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new

Cause in my head there's a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they're far more suited than here

I cannot guess what we'll discover
Between the dirt with our palms cut like shovels
But I know our filthy hand can wash one another's
And not one speck will remain

I do believe it's true
That there are roads left in both of our shoes
If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body
Where soul meets body

I do believe it's true
That there are holes left in both of our shoes
If the silence takes you
Then I hope it takes me too
So brown eyes I hold you near
Cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere

What have we lost?

I used to say that there is nothing greater in this world than man ... that it is the ordinary human's inability to cope with this truth that leads them to search for the immortal, all-powerful, developer called GOD (yes all caps). It is perhaps a human fallacy perhaps a human necessity to believe that there is a greater level, a greater platform to which he has to reach and it is the personification of this that becomes the thought GOD.

My favorite example was the industriousness of man that made the high rise buildings which served two purposes -
1. Dealt with the paucity of available land
2. made him feel like he could touch the sky.

Another favorite argument was that GOD made the mountain peaks so high and out of reach, but man made the aeroplane that helped him reach far above the mountains.

A new thought entered my mind a while ago: the mountains were the most beautiful and unreachable place that man pined to see - it was the Kailasa - the abode of Shiva, it was Shangrila - the most beautiful place on earth. It was heaven. Then the aeroplane helped us see how far above we could go and how beautiful that was and then the mountain lost a little of its beauty...

Maybe it was man who lost a little bit ... A little bit of his humanity, a little bit of his ability to see and recognize beauty, a little bit of what made him the supreme creation ...

A little bit of perspective.
